Start learning now because you never did
A child is introduced to religion first and then the alphabet. In liberal Hinduism, religion hardly goes beyond worship and practices. Organised religions might work differently. One cannot afford to question everything in religion, as it mounts pressure on the mind. The human mind feels safe when it clings on to something.
At school, you might have questioned the purpose of learning a subject. Though, you did not quit learning. All your classmates were learning the same subject, thereby motivating you to join the herd. Yet, every other student might have had the same question in mind. The question remained latent, and with it critical thinking.
Any trait that is not encouraged would go incognito and eventually disappear once and for all. When my teacher wanted me to have a role model, I could not think of one. I cannot even today. Why do I need one? The underlying conspiracy so to speak was to divert you to a regular path. You conformed.
When you made a mistake at school, your teacher corrected. She might have offended you in the process. You grew angry at her. Cut to present day. Are you still the same? At school you had no choice but to accept your teacher's order. Today, her role could have been replaced by your daughter.
Circumstances decide what your mind needs to be fed with. You might want to improve on something, but you have another commitment. The commitment is similar to that subject in school whose purpose you had questioned. You serve your commitment against your will just as you learnt that one subject in school. How different is life now from childhood?
Grammar is the guide to language usage and not a rulebook. Even words change their meaning with respect to context. Spelling and pronunciation change with geographical location. Your life alone is predetermined. How could you let that be? Go on, answer yourself. You know better than anyone.
