"Chandramukhi was a lie," says Ganga

Ganga reveals that she never suffered any 'psychic disorder' as claimed by Dr. Saravanan. She says it was Saravanan's account that people learnt from the movie. The whole episode of 'split-personality' was fabricated by Dr. Saravanan, she adds. Our fact finding team spoke to Ganga and she had a whole new story to tell. It was Chandramukhi—The Ganga's Cut. Excerpts:

I shall always be grateful to Dr. Saravanan for the timely help he had rendered. Yet, I could no longer bear the guilt and I decided to open up. My flashback remains intact for the most part. The villagers outcast my dad because he married a 'low caste' woman, my mother. When he died, the villagers objected to cremate his corpse inside the village. My mother was compelled to fall at the feet of every villager and beg for forgiveness in order to obtain the consent for cremation. She did so and unable to bear the dishonour, she died. The corpses of both my parents were set to fire by the villagers before my eyes. I assaulted the village head and fell unconscious. What happened thenceforth was the best kept secret of my life.

Having lost my parents to injustice meted by the village supremacists, I vowed to seek revenge by marrying someone from a well respected family and taking his life. I grew up to become a woman and married Senthil. He was super rich. I induced Senthil to purchase the Vettaiyapuram mansion which is believed to be haunted by the spirit of Chandramukhi. Plan A was to kill Senthil and get away by pretending to be possessed by the spirit of Chandramukhi. Plan B was to turn the tables on Saravanan's love interest  Durga.

Our family moved into the mansion and in next door was Viswanathan, the dance master. I fell for him and thought of marrying him after doing away with Senthil. On learning his love for Priya, I made a failed attempt to kill her too. I was told Dr. Saravanan was a trained psychiatrist. Perhaps, he was a detective hobbyist too. He smelled it all. In a private chat, he said the following to me:

"You'll never succeed with your plan to kill my friend Senthil. His family raised me and I'm bound to protect his life. I can't afford to send you to prison for two reasons. One, I do not have any evidence to prove your murder attempts. Two, I don't want my friend's heart broken. I wish to watch Senthil live happily with his beloved wife.

"You and your parents had suffered injustice in the past, but god has now blessed you with a wonderful family. Much like you Ganga, I don't have parents. Today I'm a renowned psychiatrist, and you are on the verge of becoming a murderer. We're two sides of the same coin.

"Therefore, I give you a second chance. I shall make it appear as though you suffer from mental illness and my treatment shall cure it. You then will lead a happy life with Senthil. If you turn down this offer, I shall burn you to death (like your parents were) and ascribe the murder to the spirit of Vettaiyan. Being a psychiatrist I can fake a spirit possession better than you could."

It was a life threat and I had but one choice—to accede to his plans, lest I be killed. Thus, my 'psychic disorder' was 'cured' by Saravanan's 'treatment' and a 'pooja' by the imposter of Ramachandra Acharya. He's the same guy who played my dad in Thirumalai (2003) and was hired by Dr. Saravanan to play the Acharya. The real Acharya never turned up. Nobody knows what became of him. Maybe he was undergoing 'treatment' from Dr. Saravanan. Nevertheless, I shall always be grateful to Dr. Saravanan. I live with Senthil now, because Saravanan wants me to. Oh yeah, I'm happy.

End.
